Harriet Entin, MSW, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) with more than 45 years of experience providing compassionate, experienced mental health care.
Throughout her career, Harriet has worked in community mental health, outpatient programs, faith-based settings, and private practice. Her work is grounded in a systems perspective and trauma-informed care, recognizing that our relationships, families, histories, cultures, beliefs, and life experiences all influence how we understand ourselves and navigate the world.
Harriet provides therapy for individuals, couples, and families and welcomes clients of diverse cultures, faiths, races, genders, and sexual orientations. She is sensitive to the ways a person’s worldview and beliefs can contribute to both their strengths and the challenges they encounter.
Rather than viewing concerns in isolation, Harriet helps clients understand the larger picture—how relationships, attachment experiences, trauma, family systems, the mind, and the body interact.
With decades of clinical experience and advanced training in couples and family therapy, attachment, complex trauma, adoption, and mind/body approaches, Harriet provides a thoughtful and integrative space for clients seeking healing, stronger relationships, and greater emotional well-being.

Harriet provides psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families.
She works with clients experiencing relationship difficulties, family concerns, attachment challenges, complex trauma, and the emotional impact of significant life experiences.
A significant area of Harriet’s practice is working with individuals and families touched by domestic and international adoption. Her experience in adoption dates back to 1979 and includes working with adoptees, adoptive parents, birth parents, and families navigating the many emotional and relational aspects of adoption.
Harriet also assists clients with birth-family searches and preparation for reunions, both domestically and internationally. For adoptive families experiencing attachment concerns, Harriet helps parents and caregivers understand how early abandonment, separation, loss, foster care, institutional care, and adoption experiences can influence a child’s ability to develop trust, regulate emotions, and experience security within relationships.
Her approach recognizes that creating secure attachment often involves the entire family system—not simply changing the behavior of one individual.

Her work is particularly well suited for individuals and families who want to understand not only what is happening in their lives and relationships, but also the relational, developmental, and emotional experiences contributing to those patterns.

Couples & Family Therapy
Harriet completed post-graduate training in Couples and Family Therapy through the Menninger Clinic. Her work is grounded in a systems perspective, which means concerns are considered within the larger context of relationships, families, histories, environments, and patterns of interaction. In couples and family therapy, Harriet helps clients better understand the patterns affecting their relationships while working toward healthier communication, connection, attachment, and emotional security.
Attachment-Focused Therapy
Harriet has advanced training and expertise in helping parents and caregivers develop secure attachment with their children. Early experiences involving separation, abandonment, loss, foster care, orphanage or institutional care, and adoption can affect a child’s developing sense of safety and trust. Attachment concerns can appear in many different ways, including anxiety, difficulty regulating emotions, controlling behaviors, conflict, defiance, depression, sensory concerns, aggression, learning difficulties, or challenges with everyday routines.
Harriet works with parents and caregivers as important agents of change within the child’s life. When appropriate, she also collaborates with other professionals involved with a family, including educators, pediatricians, speech therapists, and sensory-integration specialists.
Complex Trauma
Harriet has advanced training in understanding and treating complex trauma.
Complex trauma can influence relationships, attachment, emotional regulation, beliefs about ourselves and others, and the body’s response to stress. Harriet uses a trauma-informed perspective to help clients understand these responses within the context of their experiences while working toward increased security, regulation, connection, and well-being.
Adoption-Focused Therapy
Harriet has worked in the field of domestic and international adoption since 1979.
She understands that adoption is a lifelong experience that can affect adoptees, adoptive parents, birth parents, siblings, and extended family members in different ways and at different stages of life. Her adoption-focused work may include processing adoption experiences, understanding attachment and loss, strengthening adoptive-family relationships, navigating identity concerns, assisting with birth-family searches, and preparing clients for birth-family reunions.
Mind/Body Approaches
Harriet has been a pioneer in bringing T’ai Chi and mind/body practices into hospitals, treatment centers, schools, and community organizations since 1980.
Her approach recognizes the relationship between emotional and physical well-being and incorporates mind/body principles to support what she describes as “whole brain” healing and well-being. These approaches may complement psychotherapy by helping clients increase awareness, regulation, connection, and a greater sense of balance.

Harriet completed post-graduate training in Couples and Family Therapy with the Menninger Clinic and has pursued advanced training in complex trauma, secure attachment, domestic and international adoption, and mind/body approaches. She is a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). Since 1980, Harriet has also introduced T’ai Chi and other mind/body modalities within hospitals, treatment centers, schools, and community groups. Her decades of experience allow her to bring a broad perspective to therapy while still recognizing that every individual, couple, and family has a unique history and set of needs.
Harriet is not an in-network provider with insurance plans.
This allows Harriet and her clients to determine the direction and course of treatment according to the client’s clinical needs rather than third-party insurance requirements. It also helps protect the confidentiality of clients’ therapeutic information. Some clients may have out-of-network mental health benefits through their insurance plans.
Harriet provides clients with insurance-ready statements that can be submitted to their insurance companies when seeking possible out-of-network reimbursement. Clients should contact their individual insurance provider to determine whether out-of-network mental health services are covered.
Session Fees
Debit cards and major credit cards are accepted.
Fees for mind/body groups, workshops, and T’ai Chi classes are determined separately based upon the number of participants.
Outside of her clinical work, Harriet enjoys activities that keep her connected to creativity, nature, animals, and community. She is a gardener, weaver, and equestrian and is devoted to her dog, Cookie. Harriet is also actively involved in her synagogue and neighborhood communities.
Her longstanding interest in mind/body wellness extends beyond the therapy office and reflects a broader belief in supporting the whole person—mind, body, relationships, community, and well-being.
Harriet is currently accepting new clients and offers both in-person and telehealth therapy.
She provides experienced psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families, with particular expertise in couples and family relationships, adoption, attachment, complex trauma, and mind/body approaches to healing.
